Florianópolis Together Different Landscapes And An Endless List Of Attractions
In the smallest state in the South, Florianópolis is the magic of multiplication of destinations. One city attracts those who want to beach or countryside, ecotourism or ballads night, surfing, horseback riding or extreme sports. Its lush landscapes are transformed into quiet place for families with children, romantic for couples on honeymoon, honey and even liberal for the GLS. It has lodging for any income level: the resort to idyllic fisherman’s house rented by groups of friends that go there, the best part of the holiday.
Among the capital cities, only the Rio de Janeiro is no match to the height of Florianopolis in the diversity of natural beauty, all concentrated in the mountains, seas, lakes, sand dunes, the Atlantic and mangroves. No wonder that most tourists, domestic or foreign, is a recidivist: know and back. Sometimes, back to live. Because, considering the 42 official beaches, urban and wild north to south, the list of attractions – cultural, gastronomic, etc.. – Is virtually inexhaustible.
With 400 thousand inhabitants, the city begins in the continent and take the huge island of Santa Catarina, which is about 60 km long. The distances are long, therefore, from one beach to another, and traffic jams are common in summer months. Canasvieiras, for example, is far 27 km from the center to the north, while the center to Frame or Matadeiro at the southern tip, is 22 km. Public transport is efficient, the lines are connected with single pass, but the terminal transshipments make lengthy journeys, from south to north, or the ends to the center.
The center is worth a visit: there are centenarians Public Market, the giant fig tree and the 15 square house, now museum, where he lived the painter Victor Meirelles Catarina, author of the screen ‘The First Mass in Brazil’, 1861.
At the heart of the map of treasures, the blue stain that extends to the north is the Lagoa da Conceição, a formidable center of relaxation: boating, water sports, bars, clubs, restaurants, shops, handicrafts. Long ago, in the era before digital cameras, film 36 exposure ended already half way to Costa da Lagoa, a town of alternative architecture and habits, including the lack of land transport.
The hills covered with thick green leaves beautiful rocks, bromeliads, cacti, bright yellow ipe, lanes called easements, small wharfs where residents arrive and depart. It is these special places in the world that make urbanoid rethink the whole way of life in a few seconds, size, visual impact.
A mecca for surfers, Joaquina, Praia Mole and Lagoa are neighbors. The Mole, with their tents cool and high waves, part of the trail to the burette, the only naturist beach in Floripa. Naturism relax, without tax, without the stress of the obligation to get naked.
The north line up enclaves of calm waters and warm (or warmer): Jurerê Canasvieiras, Ponta das Canas and Pond, facing the continent. These are areas with abundant infrastructure hosting and residential condominiums, and also preferred corner of Argentine tourists. “Canasvieiras is the Falklands”, as made clear the writer Marcelo Mirisola. In the last decade, the edge of Jurerê become synonymous with increasing sophistication, with clubs for “day use”, international menus, whimsical soundtrack, cushions in Arab tents and a typical intoxicating drink: sparkling. Sparkling every day, every hour, before and after the dive, lunch, supper.
The culture of Azorean colonization provides thus their respects to the French daily, north and south. To the south is the beach of Campeche, the main avenue, the Little Prince in honor of the writer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, who among other feats set the air route to Patagonia. In 1931, when he was head of the company Aeropostale in Buenos Aires, Saint-Exupery landed at Campeche. The book “The Little Prince” also raises the ball of the residents of Florianópolis: The lamplighters are the fishermen, worried that flying machine, made trails of lights for the pilot found the runway.
It’s been a few decades, therefore, that the South Island is a special place, generous with strangers. It is quieter, more rustic, almost a rural area, with livestock grazing and all, with cold sea nearby. The best tracks are departing for South Marsh, famous for Bar Arante, which collects thousands of little notes hanging from the ceiling and walls. They are pieces of different periods of visitors from Brazil and the world, about the sights, foods, drinks, the natives of the coast, which is among the privileged of the country.
Try booking a week in Florianopolis, at least, if you’re going for the first time. Only the boat to the colonial fortresses and the island of Campeche take a day each. Do not forget that the South is not the Northeast: the weather is hot only in the spring and summer, from September or October until March or early April. And again: for the bistro favorite, for the new dance floor, to learn windsurfing or kayaking the lagoon. The printed map of Florianópolis, with its reliefs, hollows and coves, it is worthy of hanging on the wall. View the map live deserve overflow stopper champagne.
