Recommendations for sailing lessons in Los Angeles?

I am interested in taking sailing lessons in the Los Angeles area. It few schools near Marina Del Rey, but I do not know anyone who took a class in one of the places – and the lessons are not cheap. My goal is to learn to sail very well that I could rent a boat for a few hours and sail around the bay of Santa Monica. I have no experience, so I'm looking for a place to work with beginners. Thank you,

First, go to your local library and get a book and learn the safety of navigation and basic terminology, or check out some good websites. Here's one for you: http://www.modelyacht.org/sailmanual/ Second, I recommend joining a local sailing club instead of having lessons. Joining a club is a great way to interact with shipmates, the courses are free, knowing all the good local places to navigate, and try different boats and fishing gear. You will find many recalcitrant to die with a boat that still needs a crew member added, trust me on this point. If you do not want to participate to at least begin to receive newsletters in order to participate in some of their events. They are always in short hand sailing. Check these sites a local sailing club web and see if you can find one that suits you: http://www.sailorschoice.com/yachtclb.htm Sailing is a great sport, you worship. Have fun, be safe, and good weather for you.
