Norwich, the county town and Norfolk’s only city, is a fantastic shopping destination, featuring large pedestrianised areas, modern shopping precincts, quirky indie shops as well as a 190-stall Monday-to-Saturday open market, which can trace its roots back to Saxon times and is the largest six-day-a-week open air market in England.

Take an afternoon to look round The Mall Norwich and Chapelfield which between them boast over 150 shops, as well as Jarrold, which has won the Independent Department Store of the Year award twice. Timberhill and Norwich Lanes offer a lovely shopping experience for fashion and lifestyle items, and the cobbled street Elm Hill is great for everything for teddy bears to antiques.

If nature and serenity is your thing, why not visit the Norfolk Broads, a popular destination for boating holidays? The Broads are a network of rivers and lakes that stretch for 117 square miles and host some of the most interesting nature and wildlife. You could hire a boat and give sailing a try for yourself, or have lunch at a cosy country pub on a riverbank, where you’re sure to end up chatting to some of the locals.

Norfolk also boasts some lovely woodland for summer picnics or colourful autumn strolls, those on luxury hotel breaks to Norfolk during the summer months should definitely make time to visit some of the county’s many beaches, which are amongst Britain’s finest. Cromer Beach, to the Northeast of the country, is famous for its Cromer crab, and is a popular destination for families as there’s a pier for entertainment, the sea is good for swimming, and when the tide goes out, there are hundreds of rock pools which provide endless fascination for children and adults alike.

Or if you prefer something a little quieter, Cley-Next-The-Sea is a picturesque little village relatively unchanged since medieval times. The main part of the village is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and has old buildings galore including Cley Windmill and St Margaret’s parish church.

There is so much natural beauty to be seen in Norfolk, it’s no surprise it’s such a popular destination for luxury hotel breaks in the UK.

What would happen to me if i fish outside of the Norfolk Broads fishing season and when is the fishing season?

For my 18th im planning on hiring a boat out at the end of march and go fishing for the night but my friend told me id be arrested because the fishing season ends on the 17th. Is this true and if so surely if im out of the way and put the fish back after each catch it shouldnt matter? Will out of season affect the chances of a catch aswell? Also when does fishing season start and end 2010?

usually when the fishing season ends it just means that you cant keep the fish. you would have to go with catch and release.
