Any fun ideas for things to do around Cary/Raleigh, NC?

I’m feeling in a bit of a rut and would like some ideas for fun, unique things to do in the triangle. I don’t mind a bit of a drive but nothing more than a day trip.

I’m not too much into nature (hiking, boating, etc). Thats really the only kind of thing I wouldn’t be too interested in. But I love anything to do with animals, museums, arts, etc.

So suggestions for fun activities or little known things to do in the surrounding area?
