The Whole Family Can Have a Great Time in Newport Beach
It doesn’t matter what kind of getaway you have planned for your family, you will discover that there is something for everyone in Newport Beach, California. Newport Beach has activities that will appeal to the young and old and everybody in between. Your family will be entertained for hours and hours.
Of course, one of the most popular pastimes in Newport Beach is the beach itself. Throughout the summer months the beach is a great getaway spot for the entire family. You can enjoy swimming, boating or even a jet ski. When temperatures rise in the summer there is nothing that beats the heat quite as well as the beach.
Your kids will just naturally find all kinds of things to do at the beach, from building sand castles, to playing in the water or simply basking in the sun. If they get worn out at the beach, you can always go back to the hotel and relax around the pool. Another idea is to rent a paddle boat or an electric Duffy boat that will cruise up to six hours at 5 knots.
Kids will also love the Balboa Fun Zone at Newport Beach, which is easily found by the ferris wheel that has been a landmark since 1936. The Fun Zone was completely rebuilt in 1986 and features the ferris wheel, a carousel, arcades and several small shops. You can also take the Balboa Island ferry. This five minute ferry ride takes you to Balboa Island, in the middle of Newport Bay, which is chock full of Cape Cod-style picturesque gift shops, galleries and restaurants.
Another activity that you will want to try is rollerblading. Newport Beach has an extensive blacktop boardwalk that goes along between the beach and beachfront homes or shops. The atmosphere is pure southern California, with palm trees, surf shops and everyone whizzing along on skates, bikes or scooters. If that is too intimidating, you can also rent beach buggies, which are like four wheel bicycles with seats and surrey tops. You can drive these on the streets and it is an excellent way to explore.
For the younger kids you will want to make sure and include a stop at the Toy Boat toy store. This shop has a very large selection of higher quality toys and games that you usually won’t find at places like Toys R Us. They also have lots of small, simple toys like the kind toy stores used to carry. Close by is the Build-A-Bear store where you can get a stuffed animal and choose from a wide selection of clothing and accessories for it.
As you might expect, Newport Beach has a fantastic array of restaurants of all types. After a long day of playing, it is great to stop and have a relaxing meal but you don’t want conflict over what everyone wants. You may want to try Coco’s Family Restaurant which has a huge menu that should have something for everyone. Wilma’s Patio is also an option with a great selection of salads, mexican and pasta meals, as well as several chicken and beef based dinners.
Newport Beach really does have something for everyone and could become a family favorite vacation destination. The warm ambience and fun activities will be fondly remembered long after your vacation is over.
