Where can you even go night fishing in US?

I live in northern part of IL…. and every lake that you can access from shore (i dont have a boat nor live on a lake) closes at sundown. I always read all these magazines about night fishing and every fisherman knows that fish bite best at night.. What can I do? I really wanna fish at night time, I try early in the morning but gates to forest preserves sometimes open as late as 9-10am around here which is rediculous.

Here in the Northeast you can pretty much fish wherever you want to at night and you see guys out all the time. Some State Park run lakes will close their gates at sundown, but as far as I know, around here anyways, you can still walk in to fish. Night fishing for carp is a huge sport, although I have not personally done it, And I would think that as long as you have purchased your license, you should be able to fish when and wherever you want to, check with your town hall and request a copy of your towns local abstracts.
