Picking Boat Furniture When Space is Limited
There is a third thing, however, that most boat owners will need to consider when picking out their boat furniture. Space restrictions can truly play havoc with style choices, as many things that you might like to put in your living quarters on your boat simply won’t fit. Sometimes it is a space problem within the boat’s living quarters, and sometimes it is because getting the boat furniture into the quarters is simply impossible. Both situations are equally frustrating, and causes many people to think that they are severely limited in their furniture options and styles. Fortunately, this is not the case at all.
What used to be a negative has now become a positive within the boating community. It used to be that boating furniture was limited to either extremely expensive options that were custom built, or small ready to assemble (RTA) furniture that was poorly constructed and ill suited to solve the decor. Both options were poor ones for the average boater that simply wanted some attractive furniture options that fit in their boat quarters without costing them more than the boat.
In response to this, ready to assemble furniture options are now available that address each of these problems. Not only can you find the furniture that looks great, you can also find it at a fair price and fit it into virtually any boat space at all.
This ready to assemble furniture comes in literally thousands of style combinations when you consider the various fabrics, slip covers and furniture combinations that can be assembled. Everything from sectional sofas to chairs, couches, loveseats, sleeper sofas and ottomans are available to name only a few, and more ideas are coming up every day. These boat furniture options are as stylish as they are comfortable.
Speaking of comfort, there are some ready to assemble options out there now that you will melt into and never want to get up. The incredible comfort belies the size and cost of these options, and multiple options exist as far as firmness as well. You can pick your comfort level for your boat furniture.
As for fitting into the tightest of places, the best ready to assemble options can do so with ease. Some companies offer their furniture in three different pieces, making them very easy to fit through even the smallest of pilot house doors or stairways. The assembly of this furniture is quick and easy, and even a child can do it. (There is actually a YouTube video of a child doing it in minutes that you would not believe). There are few boating areas that this furniture will not fit into, so space is not a concern.
As for durability, these ready to assemble options are nothing like the typical cheap ready to assemble furniture options that have been out there. They are guaranteed with one of the best customer service policies in the industry, and are constructed from the highest quality materials.
If you are looking to invest in a nice sleeper sofa, couch, loveseat, chair or sectional sofa for your boat, then it would be a good idea to look into these awesome new ready to assemble options. Do not paint the ready to assemble with the same brush, as this would be a huge oversight. There is top quality, well made and incredibly attractive RTA furniture options out there that will be perfect for your boat.

What kind of a boat is good for a 1st time owner?
Hubby and I were thinking about getting a boat for next summer, and we’re wondering what kind would be best for us. We live about an hour from Pittsburgh, and I think it would be ffantasticto have a boat on the water there. It’s me and hubby (2 not-really-that-skinny people…lol) and a little 25# dog. Ideally we’d like to have maybe 4 other people on the boat, and a galley of some kind would be perfect. We won’t be using this boat for fishing, just hanging out. Is this asking too much? Would a pontoon boat work for us? Is a pontoon boat, if this is something that would work, a good boat for 1st time owners? We’ve never had a boat before, so is looking for an ‘easy’ boat asking too much? Hubby is very mechanical, so I’m not worried about the up-keep on it, but more of the day-to-day operations of a boat. We know it’s not going to be easy or something that’s to be taken lightly, but what kinds of boats should we start looking at first? Thanks in advance!!
I know that you will get allot of opinions here. I would suggest that you make some friends that are current boat owners. They can better advise you of what you may want that would work in the area that most of us do not live in.
With that said, If you are budget minded and do not want to pay the price for a new one (I don’t), then find one that is 2-3 years old in perfect running condition. Start from there. Do not buy one that needs repairs when your husband is not familiar with boats yet. It is best to learn from having a fully functional boat and to tackle one problem at a time when they finally come up.
Your husband being a mechanical minded guy is a perfect fit. Unless you are wealthy, you will not enjoy any boat if you cannot do general repairs and maintenance your self.
Now go meet some new friends. Visit some dealers to see what is out there. Go to the Pittsburgh Boat show this winter.
In my opinion you need a 20-22 foot cuddy cruiser type like this Four Winns that I have linked here.

This type boat is what I think that you are asking for.
Good Luck.
