Sailing from San Francisco to San Diego?

We are 2 x UK couples planning a vacation on the west coast. Can anyone provide information on cruise ships or the company charter or if it is encouraged. We hope to end in Monterey, San Simeon, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and San Diego and return to the United Kingdom from there
