How New Zealand sailing hero Sir Peter Blake won the Whitbread Round the World?
Sir Peter Blake is / was the only sailor which ran in the first five Whitbread Round the world races. He played his first world tour in 1974. In the race for 1981-82, Blake put together his own campaign and skippered Ceramco New Zealand. He was back in 1985 with one of the favorites in the race for New Zealand Lion. In 1989-90, Blake skippered Steinlager to scan without own precedent. He and his team went to the line, handicap and overall honors in each of the six legs of the race.
